I just re-discovered this gem of Patti Smith singing "You Light Up My Life" on a kids show. So so good. (Patti starts singing at 3.50 mark)

Avalon on Lola Is Beauty
I haven't done any "awkward photobooting" lately, but Claire (who writes our press releases and bios!) from one of my favorite blogs Lola Is Beauty did a great "awkward photboothing" shoot for her new Avalon dress. I love how "Lola" (the cat) is too cool to care just looking out the window.

wishwishwishing on a star!
I discovered Carrie's beautiful blog wishwishwish when Carrie ordered some pieces from me in winter. I am so impressed with Carrie's beautiful style and eye and she is only 19 years old! I was so happy to see this post on the Bojangles dress and Piano shirt which she wears perfectly and all of that in a dreamy English garden! Thank you Carrie!
Here is the sweetest video of Carrie in the Bojangles dress filmed by her boyfriend Miguel!

Ticket To Ride
One of my oldest and dearest friend Anni and her sister Dominique just sent me these fun photos of them wearing the Ticket To Ride skirt! It reminded me of our 4 sisters sleep overs being a bunch of sillybillies.

a bout de souffle; a symphony of stripes
The thing with Nouvelle Vague movies they both annoy and inspire me at the same time. It's like watching an existentialist lullaby that you suddenly wanna be in and lay in bed, listening to records all day. This Godard gem is turning 50 this year! This is the longest post ever, but I just couldn't stop.
"Girls Never Have Cash"
"It's crazy but I love you"
"I don't know"
"Do like Elephants do when they're sad"
I like the Trench with Ballerinas and white socks
"Leave Me Alone, I am thinking"
They keep on telling each other how crazy they are throughought the movie
stripey freshness!
The record player of my dreams!
Going to watch a Western suddenly sounds like so much fun!
Jean Seberg is forever lightly running out of and into cars
"Silk socks with a tweed jacket!"
The perfect outfit to sit at a Cafe bar making a phone call even it's for turning your boyfriend in to the police

Dear Mr. Fantasy & Tanya
Tanya (who does the hair in our lookbooks and campaigns!) was stranded along with Philipp (who shoots all our photos!) in NY. I was happy to give them some shelter. NY is not the worst place to be stranded, right?
Here Tanya wears the Dear Mr. Fantasy in black cotton.

turn the lights down low
I went to New Suffolk to visit Garance on Sunday and went back to NY & work on the 5.50am train on monday (I am bragging on being an early bird just because I am not!)
Garance was going through her record collection; I got to keep some jewels, and some I just had to photograph. Voila:
Speaking of music; Robyn's new song "Dancing By Mself" makes me yes dance by myself! It's so good! Just listen to it and do everything at once.

After Midnight
Yesterday I stopped by one of my very favorite stores Abertine-(13 Christopher Street NYC) . You can find Toujours Toi and Family Affairs there. Whenever I am at Albertine lot's of things are happening, Orson, Kyung's pug eats Payton's Falaffel, people are being set up, dressed up, tips are handed out etc. I love it!
This beautiful lady was checking out outfits for different events, the After Midnight necklace added the final touch, right? She pulled it up a bit, usually it hangs lower.

Reds
I just watched "Reds" a film by Warren Beaty (1981) featuring himself and Diane Keaton as radical journalist and socialist John Reed and his wife Louise a writer and early feminist starting in 1914. what a movie! I kept on wanting to make pancakes for a snack and suddenly it was evening. The movie is 3 hours and 14min. long! I won't spoil the movie for you; just watch it, even if it's just for Diane Keaton's wonderful wardrobe. All these layered matte colors, thick cottons, velvets, knits, amazing shirts and beautiful buttons.
It starts with a coffee infused courtship in Portland
Then NY
Then Provincetown
Then Croton on the Hudson
Then lonely in Paris
Then together in Russia
back in the States
back to Russia
the Train-scene! If you don't wanna cry; look away.
