heaven

This makes me happy; going through an amazing selection of records at the Brooklyn Flea with a coffee, my grandma's bag and a nice chat. I had to put a stop to my record buying for years but I needed to get some for the installation so here we go...!
I bought that NY Dolls record and got obsessed with Lonely Planet Boy

So that was 3 weeks ago!! We went to the Brooklyn flea again yesterday and Stella found a coat within many coats. Yesterday was such a long day! A crazy day. Was it full moon?

hair like a house or true romance

For my sister and me A Room With A View had the most epic kiss scene ever. We watched it many times as young romantics when it was on tv. I just re-watched it last night. Please don't watch this film with a cynic!
I took some hairtastic screen shots whenever I could while not annoying my fellow cyinc viewers too much.

Townhouse poster project

Ok my dear friends in Zurich/Switzerland there are two things happening tomorrow that I can't be part of but wish I could.
Along with six other Swiss artists/designers I made a Zurich themed poster for the beautiful concept store townhouse. The opening is tomorrow the 25th 6.30pm-21.30pm. And also: the piece about the NYFW presentation is on "Glanz und Gloria" Swiss tv! at 6.40pm!

This from the SI style blog to explain it a little better in German:

Here are Mia and Sebastian of Townhouse when I visited their shop in January with my buddy Pascal

dreaming in tangerine

I should already be getting inspired and working on Spring 11. How is this possible? Can somebody stop this spinning wheel for a couple of breaths? But here are already my first peeks of inspiration. My inspiration comes mostly through movies and music which is then mixed with the strangeness of my head and heart. Right now also the sound of broken pianos and cassette tapes. I just really want a good mixtape, I want to rewind and fastforward and sit in front of a crappy tape player just listening to music. And I want to make something that feels and looks like this:

Glamour Germany

Play took this great photo of Lisa at our fw09 show in Zurich, for some reason Glamour paired that with Sydney. Lisa is wearing the Northfork blazer, the Lazy Afternoon shirt and Cerillos earrings. Thanks Play!

powdered shampoo

I just watched Shampoo for the first time, the story isn't all that but it's a real eyecandy (Hal Ashby!)! The colors, the outfits, the interiors, the music; so inspiring.
I don't particularly care for Warren Beaty and it didn't help that he was the ultimate douchelord in this film. But I love Goldie Hawn and she was the cutest with her skimpy little dresses.

what a great little coat!

the hippie party:

Here my two faves from the soundtrack; It Might As Well Rain Until September Carole King
and Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds; one of the most genius music videos ever made. How can you top that?

just around the bend

Here are a few images from the presentation of "Moon River" fw10/11 at The Swiss Institute last week.
I will write about the installation by Kueng-Caputo in more detail later! We created a kind of fairytale mystical place, snowy and strange, fog coming from dry ice and logs projected unto cardboard boxes. The models knitted, read, played cards..Daria who did the "DJ" playing the records, actually has never seen a record player before!
This is me explaining to Daria how to work the turn table..

Elizabeth was the break out star of the evening

Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me

and yes next fall will see the return of the Overboard coat!

Fitting

I am so slow at updating only because doing this show and the preparation was like an express train through my life, the landscape gotten so blurry outside , I am just trying to get caught up to all the other million things again, like production and delivery!
The fitting a day before the presentation was a long and fun day. We set up shop at Jen's place. It was a fun headquarter; Jen who styled the show, Molly Jen's assistant, Alina from Art and Commerce who did the casting with us, Anna-Katarina who helped me out on many, many things. Let me tell you these girls are so top notch I can't even take it. I felt so lucky to work with them every single minute!
It was a brilliant sunny day.
